Your health is incredibly important. That point is commonly known and very obvious, but how to get to optimal health is often more unclear. At CrossFit 286, we believe in a holistic approach to health. This approach not only includes exercise, but it also includes nutrition, lifestyle habits, and utilizing the right practitioners and coaches to guide your approach. When done properly, a holistic approach is some of the best health insurance you can have. Here is how you can implement it today.
Exercise is major component to this approach, the more you move around, the better your body composition and bodily functions will be. You don’t have do crazy workouts or workouts for hours on end. Just find a way to move around more whether that is taking a fitness class or walking around the block.
Be aware of what you put into your body. Manage your portion size and eat real foods. You can move around all day, but if you’re eating more than you burn off, and eating highly processed foods, your health markers will take a turn for the worst. Stick to real food, not the stuff in boxes on the shelves of the supermarket. Lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and no added sugar. You and your doctor will be amazed to see the positive impacts this has on your overall health!
Drink plenty of water and get to bed on time. Water is vital for life. We are composed largely of it and require it for proper bodily functions. Make sure you are drinking enough. If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Stay ahead of it by drinking 60% of your bodyweight pounds, in ounces of water (example, you weight 100lbs, drink 60 ounces of water). In addition to being well hydrated, get to bed on time! Shoot for 8 hours of sleep and try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. You will be surprised what a good night’s sleep can do for you!
Consult with an expert. If you need help in any of the areas above, talk to a professional. At CrossFit 286, we work with a network of coaches and practitioners that all believe in taking a holistic approach to health. These people will help you get back in touch with your body and what it is trying to say to you. Leverage them on your journey, and you will be amazed how much money you will save by not being a regular at the doctor’s office! If you want to talk to a professional, book a No Sweat Intro.
