Part of taking a holistic approach to health is leveraging experts in the field to help guide you along your journey. If you are anything like me though, you will try to do everything on your own, even though, at best, you may be a novice in the area you are trying to learn about or improve In your life. At this point, it is important to tag in the experts, and here is why.
You don’t know it all. Because simply put, it would be impossible for you to be an expert in all areas of everything. Just because you heard someone say something once, and then never cared to verify what they said, that doesn’t make what they said right. Society has a lot of ideas that are deeply rooted that people blindly believe without actually doing a little research to verify these beliefs (think about the old adage, “no pain, no gain,” which is so incredibly false that it pains me to write it). When you don’t know the answer, tag in the expert who does know it so you can continue progressing on your journey!
You probably won’t keep yourself accountable. Not saying that you lack the discipline to do so, but most of us won’t uphold the highest level of accountability, I know I struggle with that. If you know you shouldn’t consume dairy, will you be able to keep yourself accountable on steering clear of it? Or do you need someone checking in on your food logs to make sure you don’t consume it? Are you planning to hit gym 3 days per week and keeping yourself accountable to that? If work gets crazy are you going to use that as an excuse to go straight home, or do you need an appointment with a trainer to make sure you come into the gym? That extra layer of accountability is so powerful in progressing you forward.
No matter what area of the holistic approach you are on, don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are people out there who can and want to help you succeed. You can ask for help through the link here:
