Getting Back in Shape, Nutrition or Workouts?

Are you ready to shed off that quarantine weight? Most of us have been home, not working out and not eating right, and have packed on a few extra lbs. You’re probably eager to hit the gym and shed that weight, but should you jump right in or should you focus more on your nutrition? Let’s find out.

 

When most people want to get in shape, they head to the gym. While there is no doubt that working out will help you get in great shape, most people overlook the most fundamental part of their plan. Their nutrition. What good is crushing it at the gym for an hour or two if you go home and crush a whole pizza and wash it down with a Coke? It’s a waste of time. Instead, we need to focus on the base of the pyramid, our nutrition.

 

What we put into our bodies affects how we feel, how we look, and our overall health. No matter what your goal is, your nutrition is the most important thing to it. Want to lose weight? You need to focus on the proper nutrition to support that. Want to run a marathon? You better fuel your body to support that. Want to crush your presentation at work? You better make sure you have the energy to do so. And that starts with what you eat and drink.

 

At CrossFit 286, we are big believers in Nutrition First. This means that when we recommend anything for your goals, we always start with what is most important, your nutrition. In fact, for many people, focusing on just their nutrition for a few months will have a far more positive impact than any exercise routine! We have several members who started their journey that way! In addition, starting with just nutrition is a more comfortable place for people to start, as they don’t have to go into an unfamiliar location by themselves. During the current pandemic, it also provides an option to see progress without having to leave you home!
