The final question you need to ask yourself before getting back into the gym is, personal training or group classes? You determined you need to work on nutrition and that you need a coach, so really it comes down to doing your workouts with a group or 1 on 1. Is one better than the other? Let’s see!
In general, personal training is superior to group classes. With a personal trainer, workouts are written and modified specially for you, based on where you are and what your goals are. Group classes tend to have workouts that are more general and can be adapted to a broader audience. Without a doubt, the workouts written with you in mind will have more benefit for you.
We are not against group classes; in fact, we offer many group classes at our gym. We have many people who prefer the comradery of the group over the 1 on 1 environment in personal training. There is nothing wrong with that! If you prefer to work out with a group, odds are you will adhere to the program far more! With all that being said, we always make sure to start our group class participants with personal training. We want to. Make sure that you have a foundational knowledge of the movements, what you can and can’t do, and how to modify a group workout if needed. We start everyone here and then allow them to enter group classes if they desire to do so!
Getting back into shape requires an expert touch and personal training will be able to deliver that every time. While group classes are fun and have great benefit, you need to at the very least start with a few personal training sessions to reestablish your baseline of fitness. If you aren’t sure which is best for you, or if you know and are ready to get after it, book a call today with one of our coaches and they will help you out!
