Have you been working out consistently for a while and are now looking at taking your fitness to the next level? A lot of people go through this, some refer to it as “hitting a plateau.” So how do you move beyond that area and progress your fitness to the next level?
The best way to do progress to the next level with by changing your program to something more specific to you want what you want to achieve. You and your goals are unique, and the program you follow should be adapted to that. No doubt you’ve made great progress to get to where you are at, and a lot of that progress has probably been made on a program that is geared towards a broader audience. Programs like that are fantastic! They get the ball rolling, get your enjoying your fitness, and get you a lot of results! But when it comes time to double down on your fitness, you’ll want to look at more individual programs, like the Individual Design program we offer at 286 Performance.
A common pitfall I see when people want to take their fitness to the next level is to simply add more to their workouts. There are tons of online templated programs out there, and people think that if they add on more hard workouts, they’ll get to their goals. The truth is, they won’t. Say, for example, someone wants to lose 30 lbs as quickly as possible. They start working out and lose 10 lbs in the first month, but only 2 in the. second month. When this happens, like clockwork, I have people ask me, “Should I add more cardio?” The answer to that question is almost always, no. You should look to improve your nutrition or increase the intensity of your current workouts. More is not better.
You don’t need more workouts, you need workouts more specific to you, and a plan that takes into account your diet and activity level. If you feel like you aren’t able to progress to the next level of your fitness, shoot us a reply and we will help you get there!
