When trying to accomplish a goal, it can be daunting to think about all the time and effort it will take to achieve that goal. The truth, however, is that no goal is achieved over night, You won’t get your first pull up by visualizing it before bed and then waking up the next morning and trying to get a pull up. There are many steps along the path to that first pull up that you need to focus on. We call this the ½ rule, here is how to use it.
First, define your end goal. Next, define where you are now. After that, define the halfway point between where you are now and where you want to be at the end. With the midpoint defined, define the halfway point between where you are today, and the halfway point to your end goal. Continue defining halfway points until you have something you can accomplish right now to reach your goal. Turn all of these into a check list and check off the boxes as you go. It’s that simple!
Here’s an example:
Goal: Do 1 pull up
Currently: 0 pull ups
Halfway point: 1 Band assisted pull up
Halfway point 2: 10 Ring Rows
Halfway point 3: 5 Ring rows
Halfway point 4: 1 Ring row
With 1 ring row as your next step, you now have steps along the path to your first pull up! If you are having trouble defining these steps, book and intro and we can help you out! You can book that here:
